I noticed Poplar Tree Park as I drove back home from a visit to Greenbriar Park. It looked like a sports field surrounded by significant trees, so I stopped in to investigate.
Sadly, there are few hiking opportunities. You can walk down a short paved path, maybe 100 yards long, in a heavily wooded area, which connects the ball fields to a nearby neighborhood. The path even crosses a stream on a lovely little bridge.
Other than that, at best you can walk the perimeter of the ball fields, where about 20 feet of grass is kept between them and a small strip of trees.
